Overview

The Land Assembly Project Area Act was created so there is a clear process in place for property owners when government needs to buy land for long-term, large scale transportation projects like ring roads or water reservoirs.

The legislation, which received Royal Assent on December 8th, 2011, is meant to ensure landowners are consulted and fairly compensated.

Changes to the law will ensure it is more fully designed around the needs, realities, and expectations of property owners. The law accounts for the varying circumstances property owners face, and gives landowners as wide an array of choices and options as possible.

The information on this site is designed to give property owners the information they need about this new law and how it works. Your input and feedback is welcome.
